It has been pointed out to me that the Annie Leibovitz spread from prior post is inspired by the recent production of Hansel and Gretel at the MET Opera in New York. Judging from pictures and short video clips, this would have been phenomenal to see in person. Staged by Richard Jones and featuring set and costume designs by John Macfarlane (whose sketches and illustrations are incredible in themselves,) I appreciate the mixture whimsy, darkness, and excess used to approach this age old story.
